Just some stuff I want to share with you
Cyclone Hamish has caused a big problem here. A cargo ship lost 31 containers with chemicals and one of these containers punched a hole in the oil tank of the ship. Result: a big oil spill (230 ton of it) along the coast (it’s spread over 60 km). And that’s a big issue for this area. Not only because of the impact on nature, but this is the area where the nice beaches and the surfers are. So it has also an economical impact and that’s painful in these difficult times.
Read full articleWell, I found out why you couldn’t get the bigger/high res pictures when clicking on a picture in the blog entries. I also tried to enable the Google maps integration, but that’s one that for sure will require a bit more time…
For now: this will allow you to look at “the bigger picture” or go to the “Picture Gallery” page to browse all pictures here ;-)
As you can see, I have been posting some messages over the last days. During the creation of the posts I have added an image gallery based on Gallery 2 and today I added a guestbook to the site.
The image gallery still needs a lot of work, but for now it allows me to upload my pictures and add them to the posts. Looks like I have broken the gallery - blog integration. When you click on a picture in the log, it should show a bigger/high res version… So far, I am not a big fan of this particular piece of software… But then, I have not put a lot of time in it either.
The gallery has some form of Google Maps integration, but I have had no time to work on that.
I will work on the Google Maps integration (not only for the pictures but also to show GPS tracks) over the next days.
It’s been a great day today. Although we had some light rain in the morning, the afternoon weather was fantastic. I walked along the river towards the Botanic Gardens.
